Wild Wild West

Written by Andy Signer

By Andi and Remy in tow, we left Austin, Texas. Phoenix and San Diego after we had left behind us, we landed in sunny, but cooler San Francisco. At the airport we met B, a good friend of Remy. Salome wanted to meet us in SF, her flight from Costa Rica made but problems.

While we were waiting for Salome, we are not bored, we had a few drinks with Humm , who this weekend was also on the west coast by accident. Marched through the bars in the area, on Sunday we went to the baseball stretched (we bravely in the seventh inning ) and fed one or the other sausage in Tommy's Joynt .

Once the entire crew was assembled, we rented a nice van and made our way south. After a short stop in Santa Cruz we drove to Monterey, where we spent the night. The next morning we went on a whale-watching boats. It took a little bit, but then we saw but a few orcas (Americans do not like the term killer better).

It continued on Highway 1 towards Big Sur. We enjoyed the impressive Küstenstrassse, preferred to spend the night there but not in the national park. After a short discussion we decided to head towards Yosemite Park and spend the night there. We tried some of the lodges in the park, the prices were there, but rather unpleasant, and so it went back to Mariposa, where we found a budget hotel. Before you sleep, it went to the local bar, where it was after a little warming up phase very funny and wrong-headed. At the end it went into the Schnäpps - next day there was aspirin, and Burger King.

The Yosemite Park , we have won, no question. The mighty El Capitan and the waterfall on the opposite side are simply breathtaking. Then we watched a couple of Sequoias of Yosemite to the south. We spent the night in Santa Cruz, where the night life had to be tested. The one-mannered visited a pub while the other in a karaoke bar once really gave gas (the images will remain under wraps until 2059).

And already it was time to return to San Francisco. A small exit over the Golden Gate Bridge , we could not help us before we had to return to our van. On Sunday again was the obligatory game of the Giants announced.

The next day we were at the airport. Departure towards Taipei. Bye, bye, USA! Schön's it!
