Diving Burma aka Myanmar
Written by Andy Signer
After a minor odyssey of Koh Chang to Koh Chang (yes, there are two in Thailand) and one day hold out their in Sophon's Hideaway (which is too bad is not if you do not even 26 hours sitting would bus in) we met Frank from Aladdin Dive Safari . After a few more hours sitting around and waiting, then finally we landed on the Flying Carpet , by boat from Aladdin. After the usual antics border we chugged leisurely through Burma's waters to the north. The next day at 7:00 we went on the first dive. For four dives on the day you have to get out of bed early (berths). The water temperature was 26 degrees rather fresh, and the view not just the hammer. There were an infinite number of scorpion ( scorpion fish for non-Germans - but on an almost exclusively German-Trip also learn to fish, the German name) and yet some cuttlefish to see. After diving, there was a small breakfast and before one knew it, it went to the next dive site.
How it all went the whole day - diving, reading, eating, diving, reading, eating, sleeping, eating, diving, eating, reading, scuba diving, sleep, dive and so on and so forth. Super! Heiko and Sophie, our two guides did a great job. One of the two had a penchant for changing of compound words in the briefings. Thus, from an Overhang Hangover [sic] and of a Horseshoe a Shoehorse. The attentive audience he broke into tears (especially when the two twists were cheerfully repeated). The other guests had a fun Trüpplein - mainly German, Austrians and one Dutchman.
Unfortunately, that is dynamite fishing in Burma still widespread, and so we plunged in part on real underwater graves. Or else the shock wave of an underwater explosion was in his own body to spühren. Too bad!
Therefore we came to the visual enjoyment of many cuttlefish, octopus and ghost pipe fish . All animals that we get in Komodo rarely seen. Not to be forgotten the great and imposing Marbled Stingrays. By some islands there was little caves tunnel, respectively, which offered a nice change. Funny (not really) is the often misleading names such as Shark Cave - by sharks far and wide no trace. In defense we have to say that we at least a few other places scattered Whitetips and a Blacktip Shark have seen.
Back in Ranong, we had a day off before going to the next liveaboard to the Similan Islands. On this day, one spa was on the program. Actually I wanted to tweak, but then I went anyway and it has paid off completely (my God, I'm getting old).
For those who still have not found the pictures click, but just once with the mouse on a picture. Then it lands on the picture gallery. Have fun!
